Aims

We aim to raise aspirations, challenge stereotypes and encourage students to consider a wide range of careers. The careers programme in school offers information, guidance support and advice to assist students with making well informed realistic career decisions.

In particular we intend our students to:

Develop a broad understanding of the world of work and student’s ability to respond to changing opportunities

  • develop independent research skills so that they can make good use of information and guidance
  • develop and use their self-knowledge when thinking about and making choices
  • develop the skills they need to review achievements, plan future actions, make decisions, present themselves well and cope with change and transition.

Provision

Careers includes both education and guidance. Careers education helps our students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make successful choices, manage transitions in lessons. We have a well-resourced Careers Library containing a wide range of careers.

Our Careers Adviser is available to see students every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and offers a drop in service at breaks and lunchtimes to all year groups. There is also an appointment system for individual careers guidance interviews.  Appointments can be booked by students, parents, staff and key workers.

The Adviser can be contacted via telephone on 0113 390 0770 ext 277 or by e-mail d.pasfield@tmhs.co.uk
